California man arrested after NSP troopers locate 55 lbs. of suspected cocaine

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- A California man is in custody after troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol located 55 pounds of suspected cocaine on Interstate 80.
According NSP spokesperson Cody Thomas, a trooper reportedly observed a vehicle with a license plate violation parked at an eastbound I-80 rest area near York.
During an interaction with the driver, the trooper reportedly became suspicious of criminal activity, Thomas said.
Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol arrested one person after locating 55 pounds of suspected cocaine during an encounter on Interstate 80.
A search of the vehicle, a BMW X5, reportedly revealed 55 pounds of suspected cocaine hidden in the spare tire compartment.
The driver, 38-year-old Nicandro Garcia-Perez of Chino Hills, California, was arrested for possession of cocaine, possession with intent to deliver, and no drug tax stamp.
Garcia-Perez was lodged in York County Jail.
