Hail, tornadoes spotted in central Nebraska
HASTINGS, Neb. -- Severe weather moved into central Nebraska quickly Friday afternoon, with reports of landspout tornadoes popping up in the area.
Tornado warnings were issued for Merrick, Hamilton and York Counties. They have since expired.
At 4:30 p.m. CT, a confirmed tornado was located near Marquette, approximately 19 miles east of Grand Island, moving north at 15 mph.
The National Weather Service cautions that flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes are likely to be damaged or destroyed.
Hail also landed in the region, including in places like Hastings. Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for Merrick and Nance Counties until 5:30 p.m.
NWS says anyone in the impacted areas should take cover immediately.
