GIPD: woman accused of attempting to murder infant

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- Authorities said a Grand Island woman has been referred for attempted first-degree murder after reportedly asking a medical center for help on hurting her child.
The Grand Island Police department said they responded to a welfare check for a juvenile Friday night around 8:22.
GIPD said they spoke with the mother of the three-month-old, who called a local medical center asking for help on how to hurt her baby.
Authorities said that the woman reported wanting to choke her baby.
Officials reported seeing a red mark on the baby's neck.
GIPD said the woman told them she is still having thoughts about hurting her baby.
The baby was placed into a 48 hour hold, according to police.
Officials have referred the woman for criminal attempt of first-degree murder.
GIPD said an arrest warrant has been requested as well.
