Hastings Chamber, Economic Development Corporation choose Landauer as joint executive director

HASTINGS, Neb. — A native Nebraskan currently working in Iowa will be the new leader of two business organizations in Hastings.
The Hastings Economic Development Corporation and the Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce announced Monday that Shannon Landauer will be the executive director for both groups. The organizations previously had separate leadership but announced in December they would align under one president.
Landauer comes to Hastings after working as the president and CEO of the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation, which serves a four-county region in the Lake Okoboji area.
“Shannon has a track record of success in the communities that she has served," HEDC President Scott Kvols said. "Her expertise in helping communities create opportunities for growth will serve our community well. We are excited to have her help shape the future of Hastings.”
Landauer started in economic development at the Boone County Development Agency in Albion, Neb. She then served as executive director for both the Carroll (Ia.) Area Development Corporation and the Carroll Chamber of Commerce for seven years before going to Iowa Lakes.
“The partnership between Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce and the Hastings Economic Development Corporation creates synergy between two great, existing community organizations," Chamber Board Chair Sheana Smith said. "Having Shannon provide leadership, strategy, and direction for both organizations will create a more powerful resource for our community.”
Landauer, originally from Spalding, serves or has served on several different statewide boards and task forces related to economic development, including a stint as the president of Professional Developers of Iowa. She has earned her Certified Economic Developer Designation.
The organizations haven’t set her start date yet, but media reports in Iowa say her last day at Iowa Lakes is June 9.
