NSP: incident in Franklin safely resolved around noon Friday
Authorities in central Nebraska said there was a safe conclusion to a situation that happened Friday morning.
FRANKLIN, Neb. -- Authorities in central Nebraska said there was a safe conclusion to a situation that happened Friday morning.
The Franklin Police Department said that around 9:10 a.m. they requested help from the Nebraska State Patrol in response to a domestic incident at a home in Franklin.
The NSP said that officers became concerned for the welfare of a woman a child after the woman locked herself inside a bedroom with her baby.
Officers said they found out there were firearms inside the room.
NSP said they activated crisis negotiators and members of the NSP SWAT Team.
Authorities said that after more than three hours of negotiating, at about 12:30 p.m., the woman voluntarily exited the room without the baby.
The baby was found unharmed inside the room, according to the NSP.
The woman was taken to a hospital in Hastings for emergency protective care, authorities said.
NSP said that the baby was evaluated and cleared at Franklin County Memorial Hospital and has be placed with family.
The FPD, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin Fire Department and EMTs, Life Net, and NSP all responded to this incident.
This is an ongoing investigation.
