Former Kearney YMCA employee charged with child sexual assault

A former Kearney YMCA employee is charged with inappropriately touching a six-year-old girl, according to Buffalo County Court records.

KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - A former Kearney YMCA employee is charged with inappropriately touching a six-year-old girl, according to Buffalo County Court records.

Court records show Zachariah Uden, 20, reported the incident, which happened in April or May of 2022, to the YMCA. The YMCA in turn notified Kearney police, who then interviewed Uden and arrested him.

Prosecutors charged Uden with third degree sexual assault on a child.

Court records show that Uden told police that he touched the victim in the vaginal area over her clothing for about 30 seconds.

Uden’s case is set for a probable cause hearing May 24. The max penalty for a conviction of third degree sexual assault on a child is three years in prison.
