Bennington firefighters help prevent damage to surrounding homes
While a fire in a Bennington neighborhood caused significant damage to one structure, firefighters prevented the blaze from harming surrounding homes.
BENNINGTON, Neb. -- Nearly a dozen fire crews fought a two-alarm house fire in Bennington on Friday afternoon.
Firefighters on scene told our partners at WOWT Channel 6 that the fire caused very significant damage to the home. However, crews were able to keep it from spreading to neighboring structures.
The fire further ignited thanks to several small explosions.
As neighbors were coming home Friday afternoon, they discovered the blaze and called 911.
Smoke was visible from well beyond the neighborhood, and firefighters remained on scene to battle hot spots.
