GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- The Hall County Commissioners are recognizing April as the month to prevent child abuse.

According to the proclamation, Hall County had 1,233 child abuse/neglect calls to the child abuse hotline in 2021.

First Light Central Nebraska Child Advocacy Center Executive Director, Josie Lindell said the community should be informed about the topic.

“It’s really important that we get the community aware that child abuse does happen here in Hall County, and that there are many organizations that work to prevent child abuse,” Lindell said.

The Association for Child Abuse Prevention in Grand Island will have activities throughout the month.
