Fire Department investigating explosion at east Grand Island home

The fire department is investigating the cause of an explosion in east Grand Island.

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. - A central Nebraska fire department is investigating the cause of an explosion in east Grand Island. 

According to Fire Battalion Chief Ed Carlin, firefighters were dispatched to the 3800 block of E Seedling Mile Road to what was believed to be an explosion at a structure. 

Upon arrival, they discovered two vehicles on fire.

There was no one at home at the time of the incident. Carlin said some farm animals may have minor injuries.

The fire is under investigation.
