HASTINGS, Neb. — Mary Lanning Healthcare’s Family Care Center has offered the Baby Weighs breastfeeding support group in Hastings for many years. In the past few weeks, it has added meetings in Grand Island and Central City so that more moms may attend.

Donna Munsell, MLH Family Care Center Director, said the free support group has always helped new mothers become comfortable with the breastfeeding process. Moms and babies who attend the group receive information and answers to common questions. Babies are also weighed, and trained lactation nurses are on hand to check for milk transfer.

The group has a private Facebook page where moms may ask questions at any time.

“The two newer group locations were needed so that moms across central Nebraska would have a chance to attend and socialize,” Munsell said.

Baby Weighs is now offered:

• In Hastings in the basement of the Home Away From Home, 736 N. Kansas Avenue, every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon.

• In Central City at the Merrick County Foundation at the Visitor’s Center, 1532 17th Avenue, on the first and third Thursdays of the month from 9-11 a.m.

• In Grand Island at Central Nebraska Family Care, 3016 W. Faidley Avenue, on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month from 6-8 p.m. For more information, call the MLH Family Care Center at 402-461-5226.
