GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- Just weeks after cutting the ribbon, Legacy 34 in Grand Island is already thinking on the next phase.

City Council members unanimously approved a zoning request and approved the final plat and subdivision agreement for the project.

Legacy 34 will build 150 more apartment units, a total of 10 three-story buildings with four carriage house apartments.

The commercial development will have one building on each lot and will provide the neighborhood with commercial services and office space. It will include a sports bar, ice cream shop and coffee house.

A proposed hotel would be at the southeast lot at Husker Highway and Prairieview Street.

Construction is set to start this year.
