Lincoln man was found dead in a Grand Island barn

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- Authorities in Grand Island are investigating the homicide of a 62-year-old Lincoln man.
Around 10 a.m. on Thursday, the Grand Island Police Department and the Grand Island Fire Department said they were notified of a man that was found not conscious or breathing.
Authorities said that the first officers on scene found the man dead in one of the tack rooms in Barn R.
GIPD said the man identified as 62-year-old Todd Scherer of Lincoln, appeared to have a gunshot wound in the torso.
Scherer's next of kin has been contacted.
Officials said that a person of interest was quickly identified with help from other law enforcement partners and witnesses in the horse community coming forward.
GIPD said the person was found asleep in another tack room in the same building.
Authorities said that the person was identified as 20-year-old Logan Hunts Horse of Wounded Knee, South Dakota.
Horse Hunts was arrested and lodged at the Hall County Department of Corrections.
This is an ongoing investigation, and officials said that additional witnesses are encouraged to contact the Grand Island Police Department
