HASTINGS, Neb. — For the first time in decades, KHAS Radio is on the move.

The signature radio station in Hastings started broadcasting from its new studio and office last week. The new studio is now in the middle of the city on the ground level of the Burlington Center building (747 N Burlington Ave STE G104). Flood Communications CEO Andy Ruback says the new space is an upgrade for radio station staff.

“The new office is more modern, comfortable and convenient for our staff,” Ruback said. “The new location in the center of town will allow our station to be more visible and our staff to have easier access to the community.”

The station still owns the building and property at E J St. and Highway 6 and still uses the tower and satellite dishes on site. The southeast Hastings location had been home to KHAS (1230 AM/104.1 FM) since the late 1990s and had housed KICS (1550 AM/92.7 FM) since 1964.

KHAS started in the Hastings Tribune building in 1940 before moving to the building on the edge of town, making this just the station’s third studio in 83 years.

KHAS plans to host a grand opening at a later date.

The move is part of a pattern of growth with Flood Communications. The Nebraska-based media company also operates News Channel Nebraska TV and 16 total radio stations. It opened KIMB-FM in Kimball earlier this month and opened a new studio for KLIQ-FM (Fiesta 94.5) in Grand Island last year.
