HASTINGS, NE - Snow is causing travel problems and leading to school cancellations in south central Nebraska.

This video comes from Hastings where they received about six inches of snow, Kearney got four inches... but Grand Island only registered an inch. The National Weather Service says winds gusting up to 30 miles per hour will continue to blow snow around until it drops off significantly around 4:00.

Now this video comes from Kearney. The snowfall and winds hung on longer than forecasters expected. It was projected to stop around 3:00 A-M but lingered until sunrise. Interstate 80 was the rough dividing line between impactful amounts of snow and smaller amounts.

The City of Hastings remains in a snow emergency until 6:00 tomorrow morning. All three school districts in the Hastings area are closed on Thursday. Kenesaw, Doniphan-Trumbull, Sutton and Blue Hill schools are also closed.
