Inmate serving for charges out of central Nebraska, found

An inmate that was serving time for charges in central Nebraska has recently been found.

LINCOLN, Neb. -- An inmate that was serving time for charges in central Nebraska has recently been found.

Officials said 54-year-old George Piper turned himself in on Tuesday after he didn't return to the Community Corrections Center – Lincoln (CCC-L) on Feb. 2. He has been taken to the Reception and Treatment Center in Lincoln.

According to authorities, Piper was serving a 35- to 52-year sentence that started on Oct. 27, 1997. He was charged for first degree sexual assault, second degree assault, burglary and escape in Red Willow and Frontier Counties. Piper has a tentative release date of Nov. 9, 2023, and a schedule parole hearing in August 2023.
