Crash near Bertrand sends one to hospital

One person was injured in an accident on Hwy 23 in Phelps County.

BERTRAND, Neb. (KSNB) - One person was injured in an accident on Highway 23 in Phelps County.

Deputies with the Phelps County Sheriff’s Office were called to assist in a crash just before noon Tuesday about one mile east of Bertrand.

The Sheriff’s Office said in a release that a pickup driven by Frank Snyder was stopped at the stop sign southbound on A Road, when the driver pulled out to cross Hwy 23 and was hit by an eastbound semi-tractor with trailer, driven by a Cozad man.

The Bertrand Emergency unit transported Snyder to Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. He was later flighted by AirCare to CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney.

The driver of the semi was not injured.
