Former Hastings College football player named as Director of Sports Performance

HASTINGS, NE — Hastings College is turning to one of its own graduates to run its sports performance department.
Athletic Director Chris Clements announced Cole Fisher as the school’s new Director of Sports Performance on Monday. Fisher spent the past two years as the Head Coach of Human Performance.
"Having the opportunity to hire a highly respected coach with ties to the campus led us to hiring Cole Fisher to be the Director of Sports Performance,” Clements said in a news release. “Coach Fisher’s long history of success in the weight room and in the campus communities makes this an appealing opportunity to increase the level of performance and community connection in our athletic department.”
Fisher replaces Brett Wells, who left the position after five years to take a job as the Scott Pathway Director, which is a collaboration between the Suzanne and Walter Scott Foundation and Central Community College.
Fisher is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA, USAW Level 1 Olympic Weightlifting Coach through United State of America Weightlifting, CPR/AED Certified (American Red Cross), SafeSport Trained and QPR Suicide Prevention Trained.
"I am incredibly thankful for this opportunity. After spending four years as a student-athlete, beginning my professional experiences as an intern here, then over the past four years being promoted to graduate assistant, head coach, and now Director at my alma mater I cannot help but feel an immense sense of pride in continuing my next career steps as a Bronco,” Fisher said.
Fisher was raised in Omaha, where he graduated from Millard South High School in 2015. He played football at Hastings College and graduated in 2019 with a degree in Exercise Science along with minors in Philosophy, Strength & Conditioning, and Coaching. He interned at Hastings College, the University of Texas and the University of Minnesota. Fisher finished his graduate program at Hastings College in May, 2021.
