MERRICK COUNTY, Neb. -- Multiple law enforcement agencies are on the hunt for a runaway suspect from central Nebraska.

The Merrick County Sheriff's Office said they responded to a call late Sunday to a call of a man trying to enter a residence.

Authorities said they tried to take into custody 34-year-old Alexander Esquitin at the scene, but that he assaulted an officer and fled the scene half-handcuffed.

Authorities said he was last seen trying to break into a vehicle before fleeing into a nearby cornfield.

Anyone who has any info on Esquitin's whereabouts are asked to contact local authorities.
