Good Life Action Sports inaugural skateboard contest in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Neb. -- A first ever skateboard contest will be held in Norfolk at the beginning of October. 

The Good Life Action Sports said they will host its inaugural skateboard contest at the Norfolk Skatepark on Oct. 1. 

The contest will showcase skateboarders traveling from South Dakota and Iowa, as well as across Nebraska to participate in this event. 

The Good Life Action Sports Conflagration 2022 contest will start with registration at 7 a.m. and will go until 10 a.m.

Registered skaters will be placed into qualifying heats and compete in line sections and best trick attempts. Only the top scoring line attempt and two top best trick attempts will be used to create each skaters final score.

The top placing skaters from each heat will move onto the finals. After qualifying heats are completed an hour break will be taken before starting the finals at 1 p.m.

Three experienced judges will be scoring the skaters on creativity, style, trick difficulty and consistency on a scale from 1 to 10.

Prize packages will be given to the top three scoring skaters in the finals.

First place wins $500.00, a prize bag of skate gear and a First Place Conflagration 2022 award. Second place wins $250.00, a prize bag of skate gear and a Second Place Conflagration 2022 award. Third place wins $100.00, a prize bag of skate gear and a Third Place Conflagration award. An additional Skate Like Frank award will also be handed out to the judges best trick pick and the award winner will also be given a skate gear prize package.

The event will be filled with action packed skating by the area’s best skaters. A dedication ceremony will be held to honor local skater Frank Griffith with a memorial bench placed at the skatepark.

Skateboard raffle prizes will be available to win as well as a free sticker toss and product toss. Good Life Action Sports t-shirts, decks and water bottles will be available to purchase to support this 501c3 nonprofit.
