GIBBON, NE — A Gibbon man is behind bars facing two charges of sexually assaulting children.
Court documents say 30-year-old Vincent Herrell of Gibbon was arrested on Friday and booked into the Buffalo County Jail on a $50,000 bond. He is charged with both first-degree and third-degree sexual assault of child.
The affidavit in support of the arrest is sealed, but the criminal complaint reveals some limited details. The document accuses Herrell of subjecting a victim under 12-years-old to sexual penetration and subjecting a victim who is 14-years-old or younger to sexual contact. Records say the alleged assaults happened in February of 2018. A judge issued an arrest warrant on Aug. 11.
Herrell is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Buffalo County Court on Sept. 2. If convicted of the first-degree charge, he could be sentenced to life in prison.
