NORTH PLATTE, Neb. -- One man is dead and another is in serious condition after a shooting in North Platte. 

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office says deputies and the North Platte Police Department were called Wednesday afternoon after a report of a shooting at 10th and Roosevelt Street.

A 56-year-old man from York was found at the scene shot several times.

He was taken to a local hospital in serious condition. 

An 84-year-old man was found several blocks away with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. 

He was pronounced dead at the hospital. 

Authorities say both men knew each other and there may have been an argument before the shooting.

This is an ongoing investigation and the names of those involved have not yet been released.
