Severe Thunderstorms cause damage in Hastings

A line of severe thunderstorms dropped large hail, significant amounts of rain and flashed lightning in and around Hastings Tuesday night.

HASTINGS, NE - A line of severe thunderstorms dropped large hail, significant amounts of rain and flashed lightning in and around Hastings Tuesday night.

The National Weather Service reported golf-ball size hail at its office north of Hastings. Weather radar indicated that 70 mph wind gusts and two-inch hail was possible with the storm.

Video above comes from the NWS office and the 700 block of N Saunders St. in central Hastings. You can hear the city's outdoor emergency sirens going off.

45 miles away in Kearney, Nebraska Public Power District is reporting 203 customers without power. That outage started at 8:36 p.m.
