Grand Island man gets decades in prison for July 2021 shooting

A central Nebraska man will spend decades in prison in connection with a shooting last summer.

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- A central Nebraska man will spend decades in prison in connection with a shooting last summer. 

27-year-old Tyler Manka was sentenced to 45 years in prison on Tuesday in Hall County District Court. 

According to court documents, Manka was first arrested last July in connection with an incident in which one man was shot and wounded. 

Police said Manka also fired more shots including several of which hit a nearby vehicle occupied by two men. 

In March, a jury convicted Manka of felony assault, weapons charges, evidence tampering, resisting arrest and drug possession. 

he's also facing charges in an unrelated case for escaping custody and barricading himself for 12 hours.
