LPD: Three boys found with stolen firearms

Lincoln Police said officers discovered three boys ranging in age from 12 to 16 in possession of stolen firearms on Monday.

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Lincoln Police found three boys in possession of stolen firearms on Monday. 

LPD said officers were called to a home near 33rd and Dudley Streets Monday morning. The resident told police they had just returned from a trip and found two handguns and a rifle missing after an apparent break-in.

Later that evening, police were called about a group of teens carrying firearms in an alley.

Three boys, ages 12, 14 and 16, had the missing firearms in their possession.

All three were referred for several weapons violations.

The 14-year-old and the 16-year-old were detained at the youth detention center, and the 12-year-old was sent home.

The investigation is ongoing.
