KEARNEY, Neb. — Flood Communications and News Channel Nebraska are transitioning their Platte River Preps brand into their newest radio station, 98.9 The Vibe.

The change is part of Flood Communications’ continued investment in the Tri-Cities after acquiring Platte River Radio in November.

“We are merging together our brands to offer the best possible resource to our consumers,” Flood Communications CEO Andy Ruback said. “The award-winning high school sports news offered through Platte River Preps will continue to be offered online but now will also be distributed on our newest radio station. By aligning our brands, Nebraskans can go to one place to find all of our content.”

Platte River Preps staples like Athlete of the Month, coach interviews and game podcasts will still be offered online in the same places. Many of the live game broadcasts formerly under the Platte River Preps umbrella will be broadcast on 98.9 The Vibe.

98.9 The Vibe (KKPR-FM) is the former Power 99 and can be heard across the Tri-Cities region. It plays a classic hits format and features regular news and sports updates. The sports department is led by Doug Duda, the region’s most-decorated sports announcer and the top contributor to Platte River Preps.
