LEXINGTON, Neb. -- A central Nebraska man is behind bars after a shooting. 

21-year-old Tyson Garcia was arrested Monday on first-degree assault and weapon charges. 

The Dawson County Sheriff's office said the shooting happened Monday morning at a home southwest of Lexington. 

Chief Deputy Greg Gilg said Garcia allegedly shot his stepmother several times. 

She was taken to a local hospital for her injuries. 

Garcia was arrested without incident.
