HASTINGS, Neb. -- Three Nebraska summer league baseball teams are among seven facing a lawsuit which seeks to keep them from playing this summer.

The Hastings Sodbusters, Fremont Moo and Western Nebraska Pioneers were among a group that left the Expedition League after the 2021 season and joined the newly formed Independence League.

Now the Expedition League has filed a lawsuit in a South Dakota court, accusing the seven teams of breach of contract and civil conspiracy, among other accusations made in a 31-page document.

The league is seeking an injunction to prohibit the seven teams from playing in the stadiums currently leased to the teams.

None of the teams have issued a formal response to the lawsuit as of yet.
