KEARNEY, Neb. -- Nebraska art is about to get a dazzling new display, thanks to a $25 million construction and renovation project.
State dignitaries, including Gov. Pete Ricketts, were on hand Friday morning for a groundbreaking ceremony for the Museum of Nebraska Art.
Architectural renderings were unveiled and a panel of experts described the changes that will occur at MONA.
The museum, which showcases art that's about Nebraska or created by Nebraskans, will remain closed for the next two years as the transformation takes place.
"This is an important piece of who we are, remembering the great artistic culture of our state and making it accessible to the citizens," Ricketts said.
