Fire damages Grand Island home, garage

A Sunday night fire caused significant damage to a Grand Island house and garage.

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. - A Sunday night fire caused significant damage to a Grand Island house and garage.

The Grand Island Fire Department says it responded to a structure fire in the 1400 block of N. Wheeler Street at 10:42 p.m. When crews arrived they found smoke outside the residence coming from the garage.

The fire department says it was able to get the fire out by about 1:00 a.m. Monday morning. The cause of the fire was determined to be electrical.

The garage was a total loss and significant damage was done to the adjacent house. There were no injuries in the fire.
