Several schools in central Nebraska are in the clear after a potentially dangerous situation.

Grand Island Senior High, Barr Middle School, Walnut Middle School, and Westridge all went into a brief lockout Wednesday afternoon after a report of someone who appeared to be carrying a weapon near the school.

The school district said in a statement the schools went into lockout around 2:45 PM.

The suspect was detained by the police twenty-five minutes later.

Grand Island Public Schools say they take all potential threats of this nature seriously.
