HASTINGS -- Police took a 45-year-old man into custody Thursday evening after he fled from Hastings authorities earlier in the day.

Hastings PD says an officer attempted to make contact with two people in the 300 block of Saunders Avenue Thursday afternoon. Police said officers quickly determined one subject fit the description of a wanted individual.

That individual was 45-year-old Billy Packard. Authorities say he ran from officers and was believe to have entered a home on Saunders. The residence was quickly surrounded, and a heavy police presence could be seen in the area.

Police say Packard was arrested without incident at about 5:30 p.m. They say two others were arrested for being accessories to a felony.
