An outbreak at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota has caused the Oglala Sioux Tribe to issue home quarantine orders to all K - 12 Schools.

The mandate is effective as of Wednesday, September 15th.

OST Vice President Alicia Mousseau says the quarantine order is in response to an increase in positive COVID-19 tests and the rise of The Delta Variant on the reservation.

She says the mandate is necessary to protect their kids because of the number of students not yet eligible to receive the vaccine and the number of multi-generational households.

The quarantine is for 10 school days for all students and non-essential school staff through the 28th.

The quarantine is 5 days for essential personnel.
