GRAND ISLAND - The highest-rated basketball recruit to come out of Grand Island, and the top hoops recruit in the state, has made his decision on where he will play in college.

Isaac Traudt announced that he will be taking his talents to Virginia during a video he posted on twitter Saturday morning.

"After prayerful consideration, I'll be committing to the University of Virginia," the Islander senior stated in the video.

Virginia won the program's first national championship in 2019, capping off a cinderella redemption story after the Cavaliers became the first No. 1 seed to be knocked out by a No. 16 seed in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in 2018.

Traudt, the No. 55 overall recruit in the 2022 class according to 247Sports composite, is coming off a junior season where he averaged nearly more than 25 points per game for the Islanders despite constantly seeing double and triple teams.

The 6-foot-9 forward received offers from both Nebraska and Creighton as well as numerous other D1 programs including 2021 NCAA National Champions Gonzaga, North Carolina and Michigan State.
