Go baby, go: Baby Olympics coming back to Platte County Fair

COLUMBUS, Neb. -- Looks like the Olympics has baby fever! For those who need to get their baby and Olympic fixes all at once, there's the Platte County Fair. The fair will be hosting its third annual event for babies to show off their athletic skills: the Baby Olympics.

The Baby Olympics aren’t for the faint of heart. There will be crawling. There will be walking. There will be running. And for those who are really skilled? There will be obstacles courses.

The events are for those who have just started crawling all the way to an obstacle course for 3-year-olds. The crawling will be for those that have just started crawling but are not walking yet. Those who can walk cannot participate in this event. The walking will be for those that have just started walking to 15 months. The running will be for those that are 16 to 24 months. There are two sections of obstacles, one is for 2-year-olds and the other is for 3-year-olds.

The Baby Olympics registration starts at 5 p.m. and the events start at 6 p.m. on July 9th in the exhibit hall at Platte County Agricultural Park in Columbus. Each participant requires two adult volunteers, and the organizers will award prizes to all competitors.
