City's police union backs Stothert, Federation of Labor sides with Neary

The Omaha Police Union is backing Stothert as she seeks a third term. According to the Union, Stothert has stood with rank and file officers during tough times in 2020.

Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert has picked up the endorsement of a key city union.

The Omaha Police Union is backing Stothert as she seeks a third term. According to the Union, Stothert has stood with rank and file officers during tough times in 2020. Last summer police confronted Black Lives Matter protesters several times across the city.

Stothert says while she accepts the endorsement, she is not taking a political contribution from the union.

One of Stothert's Democratic opponents, RJ Neary, has picked up the endorsement of the Omaha Federation of Labor.

The city primary is next month, the general election is in May.
