Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy released from hospital after car is struck

A central Nebraska Sheriff's deputy is out of the hospital after a man hit the cruiser he was in.

Authorities say the accident happened Sunday on Interstate 80 near Hershey.

A Lincoln County Sheriff's deputy had his car parked as traffic control for an accident when a car driven by 38-year-old Joseph Spearman of California hit the cruiser.

Spearman was arrested on an active warrant from California, as well as drug charges. The deputy was treated for minor injuries.

Drugs and icy roads were also factors in the accident according to authorities.
