SIDNEY - The Sidney City Council will host their second meeting of the new year on Tuesday.

City Manager David Scott will present the findings of a traffic light study for the intersection of Pole Creek Crossing and Fort Sidney Road.

Council members approved a measure to conduct an engineering and traffic study at the intersection during their Nov. 11 meeting. M.C. Schaff & Associates collected analysis from Nov. 17-24.

During the Nov. 11 meeting, Sidney Police Chief Joe Aikens told the council there had been eight crashes at the intersection since 2016.

City council will also consider purchasing a new pickup for the sewer department and hear reports from Economic Development, Cheyenne County Chamber and the Sidney Public Library.

According to their annual report, library administrators say they had a decline in physical use of the building, primarily due to COVID-19 restrictions. They say the ongoing pandemic could impact this year's attendance "severely."

21,159 patrons visited the library in 2020, including 2,235 visits to the bookmobile. They ended the fiscal year 11.8% under budget, largely due to employee changes.

Tuesday's meeting begins at 6:15 p.m. at City Hall (1115 13th Ave.). The public is encouraged to attend.
