BEATRICE – Beatrice Police have arrested one of two suspects in a robbery at a home along the two-hundred block of North 12th, late Saturday night.
Police said the man robbed was struck over the head with a piece of a pole.

"The resident had heard a knock at the door and answered the door. Two male subjects were at the door...one of them identified himself, and said he wanted to talk, so the resident let him in the house. Once they got in the house, one of the male suspects told the resident that he wanted all the money that he had."

Beatrice Police Lieutenant Jay Murphy said the male occupant of the home had grabbed a knife to defend himself. That’s when one of the intruders grabbed a pole from a closet and struck the home’s occupant on the head.

"He decided that he would go ahead and give them the money....gave them $340 cash...and both the suspects left the residence."

Police said the home’s occupant knew one of the intruders and police have made an arrest.  29-year-old Chance Thigpen was arrested by authorities and police are still searching for the other man involved in the robbery.

Aside from the $340 in cash, police said nothing else was taken in the robbery. It was not known how badly the occupant was injured.
Police were sent to the scene of the robbery after eleven p.m., Saturday.
