Sidney Raider 12U Advances to Cal Ripken Championship

Zechariah Roggasch blasted a three-run home-run and Lance Holly and Alek Doty added a pair of doubles as part of Sidney’s twelve run, ten hit first inning on Saturday afternoon at Kiwanis Field in Sidney. The Sidney Raider 12U team sent fifteen batters to the plate in the bottom of the first inning to take control of the first semifinal game at the Cal Ripken State Baseball Tournament.

Sidney was just as dominate on the mound as they were at the plate, striking out eight of ten North Platte batters and allowing only one base-runner. Sidney starter, Braxton Heater, surrendered a lead-off walk to Tyler Haneborg, then struck out the side in the top of the first inning to set up Sidney’s offensive barrage in the bottom of the inning.

Sidney added three more runs to end the game on the mercy-rule, 15-0, after three innings of play. With the win, second-seeded Sidney advances to their fourth straight Cal Ripken State Tournament Championship game and will face Westco Bluffs 12U on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. Westco Bluffs advance to the championship game with a 13-3, five-inning win over Alliance in Saturday’s second semifinal.
