UPDATE: Police: 1 dead after Sunday afternoon shooting

OMAHA - Omaha Police are investigating a deadly shooting which took place Sunday afternoon.

The OPD says the shooting took place near 53rd and Boyd Streets. Officers responded to reports of shots fired around 2:15 PM, and located a male victim in the backyard of 4310 North 53rd Street.

The victim was identified as 20-year-old John Parks, Jr., and he was declared dead at the scene. This investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information on the shooting is urged to contact the OPD Homicide Unit or Omaha Crime Stoppers.
