Early Gering lead seals fate for Sidney

Quinton Janecek went 3-4 at the plate with a pair of RBIs and two runs scored, and the Gering Legion Baseball team defeated Sidney Wednesday night, 6-2.

GERING - Quinton Janecek went 3-4 at the plate with a pair of RBIs and two runs scored, and the Gering Legion Baseball team defeated Sidney Wednesday night, 6-2.

Gering got things started in the first inning when an error scored a run. They tallied three more runs in the second inning on RBI singles from Janecek and Brady Radzymski. 

Radzymski earned the win on the mound, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out 12 in seven innings.

Tommy Ellwanger was charged with the loss. He threw four innings, gave up six runs on seven hits and struck out two. 

Jaeden Dillehay, Micah Schneider and Sawyer Dickman each collected a hit for Sidney. 

Sidney drops to 3-5 and will host Bridgeport on Tuesday. First pitch is at 7 p.m. on 98.7 FM and newschannelnebraska.com.

Juniors Game:

Sidney 6, Gering 5: Sawyer Dickman went 2-3 with a runs scored. Micah Schneider was 3-3 at the plate. Gering scored all five runs in the last two innings.
