New Sheriff in Colfax County

COLFAX COUNTY - There's a new sheriff in Colfax County.

Colfax County Attorney Denise Kracl says the County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday named Shawn Messerlie of Leigh as the new Colfax County Sheriff.

Kracl says Sheriff Messerlie will serve out the remaining term of former County Sheriff Paul Kruse, who resigned on March 31st.

Sheriff Messerlie joined the Colfax County Sheriff's Department as a deputy in 2009.

Prior to working in Colfax County, Sheriff Messerlie served as a Lieutenant in the Thurston County Sheriff's Department and a Deputy in the Cedar County Sheriff's Department.
