NORTH PLATTE, Neb. Community leaders in North Platte held a press conference Wednesday night surrounding recent updates to COVID-19.

There are seven new cases in Lincoln County bringing the total to 12.

Two of those cases are due to community spread.

Lincoln county is now apart of the Governor's Health Directive.

As of 10 p.m. Wednesday, gatherings may not be more than 10 people which will be enforced by law.

However, this doesn't include grocery stores or larger places of business such as Bailey Yard.

Alcohol sales and restaurants are now restricted to carry-out or delivery only.

All elective medical and dental procedures are prohibited with the exception of the risk of a patient's life or physical well being.

Law enforcement has also taken steps to protect their staff.

"You have plans in place for losing equipment, not people. If we were to have an infection go through our dispatch center specifically, that would take out a large portion of those," said North Platte Police Chief Daniel Hudson. "We've worked out with Kearney how we will go there and be able to do some stuff and we're the fall back for them."
