Communities Still Tapping USDA Disaster Recovery Funds
Community Facilities Program of USDA helping communities with disaster recovery
By News Channel NebraskaBEATRICE – Nebraska communities are continuing to use $2.2 million provided through the USDA for disaster recovery.
Four more grant awards were recently announced. The Tiger Pride Foundation will utilize funds to install a new sprinkler system in an old school building the foundation has acquired. Renovation work will allow a licensed daycare to open in the building, in the Pawnee County community of Table Rock.
The City of Rushville is making use of USDA assistance to help purchase a new fire pumper truck.
The City of Geneva is using USDA Rural Development funds to install new roofing and gutter systems on the town’s public library, to solve extensive damage to other areas of the building.
Head Start Child and Family Development in Superior is using USDA funding to renovate a Head Start facility with new efficiency windows and siding….expected to cut utility bills.
The four recent awards total $162,700. Applications for disaster recovery funding in several counties are still being accepted by USDA Rural Development, until funding is exhausted.
