Cattle Truck Crash near Holdrege

A semi hauling nearly 3-dozen cattle went off the road near Holdrege Wednesday afternoon.

HOLDREGE - A semi hauling nearly 3-dozen cattle went off the road near Holdrege Wednesday afternoon.

This video sent to NCN by Mid Nebraska Scanner shows the cattle truck sitting on the Holdrege Country Club Golf Course off Highway 183 just after 5 PM.

Deputy Palmer with the Phelps county Sheriff's office tells NCN that officials believe the driver of the semi lost consciousness causing him to veer off the road. The Driver was transported to Phelps Memorial Hospital with a head injury and chest pain. One of the 34 cattle in the truck at the time of the incident was euthanized.

The Phelps County Sheriffs office, Nebraska State Patrol, the Holdrege Police Department, and the Holdrege volunteer fire department responded to the scene and the accident was cleared just after 8 PM.
