BEATRICE – The City of Beatrice will be searching for a new city attorney.   City officials issued a statement Friday saying that Abby Stark has resigned from her position as city attorney, effective immediately.

City officials say Stark issued a statement expressing appreciation for the opportunity to have served in the position.

Stark had been suspended with pay recently.   The suspension began December 9th, and city officials have issued no public explanation on the reason for the action, citing the suspension as a personnel issue.  The suspension with pay took place while an investigation was conducted.

Beatrice Mayor Stan Wirth and the City Council will begin a search to fill the City Attorney position soon.   City Administrator Tobias Tempelmeyer will serve as City Attorney until a full-time attorney can be hired.  He also serves as General Manager for the Beatrice Board of Public Works.

Stark had served as City Attorney since April of 2018, after beginning employment with the city in September, 2017.    She replaced Greg Butcher, who became the City Administrator for Seward.
