WEEPING WATER - No decision made yet as a longtime Weeping Water third-grade teacher fights to keep her job.
A special hearing went well into the early morning hours Tuesday in Cass County, Nebraska. It was a due process hearing for Lori Lindau, who has had her job for 33 years. Now, just a year out from retirement, she feels she's being forced out unfairly.
So many people showed up to Monday night's hearing, it had to be moved to the gymnasium. A special mediator is leading the proceeding. It operates much like a trial. The district says this year parents began complaining about Lindau's grading practices and homework, which is why it decided to cancel her contract.
Lindau took questions for more than an hour with the administration's lawyer going over parent complaints and communications.
Again, no decision so far this morning. The mediator tells KETV NewsWatch 7's Michelle Bandur both sides agreed to a recess, and they'll reschedule the remainder of the testimony "for a later date."
