Five juveniles in custody after police chase

Omaha Police took five juveniles into custody after a vehicle chase and foot pursuit around 2:30 Sunday afternoon.

OMAHA - Omaha Police took five juveniles into custody after a vehicle chase and foot pursuit around 2:30 Sunday afternoon.

 

The chase began to take shape hours earlier.

At 1:15 a.m. Sunday, police got word of a stolen Ford Escape. Later in the morning they received reports that several males were driving around in that vehicle and at least one of them had allegedly pointed a handgun at an 11-year-old child.

Shortly before 2:30 p.m. officers spotted the stolen Escape near 61st and NW Radial. Based on the earlier information, a pursuit was initiated. The driver fled, running stop signs and leading officers on a chase that lasted for several minutes.

The vehicle chase ultimately came to an end at 69th and Manderson when five male juveniles abandoned the Ford and ran. All were eventually taken into custody. One was bitten by a police K-9 in the process.

All five suspects were taken to police headquarters for questioning.
