Peru State Competes in Rim Rock Classic

(Peru, Neb.) – The Peru State women's cross country team ran against the big dogs on Saturday as the competed in the Rim Rock Classic hosted by the University of Kansas in Lawrence.

The Bobcats finished tenth out of 11 teams which was primarily made up of NCAA Division I and II teams. The host Jayhawks won the Classic with a team total of 31. The University of Missouri Kansas City was second with 39 points.
 
Other team placings included: third – Creighton – 99, fourth – Pittsburg St. (Kan.) – 116, fifth – Rockhurst (Mo.) – 148, sixth – Washburn (Kan.) – 151, seventh – Berry (Ga.) – 185, eighth – Northern Colorado – 216; ninth – Oral Roberts (Okla.) – 219, tenth – Peru State – 323, and 11^th – Haskell Indian Nations (Kan.) – 324.

As she has all season long, Julia Zurek (Louisville) led the Bobcats. Zurek finished 84^th overall and was 61^st for scoring purposes in a time of 29:37.5.

The second finisher for the Bobcats was Sophia Schroeder (Ravenna) who was 88^th/64^th in 32:10.5. Right behind Schroeder was Jacey Sutton (Wahoo) in 89^th/65^th in 32:22.7.
 
Peru State's fourth finisher was Alyssa Brink (Oakland, Iowa) who was 91^st/66^th in 32:54.5. Hailee Lynn (Malcolm) was 93^rd/67^th in 33:07.3.
 
Other Bobcat runners and they finishes included: Aubrey Wattier (Malcolm) – 94^th/68^th – 33:56.0; Brealynn Wattier (Malcolm) – 97^th/71^st – 35:41.6; Marissa Wingert (Panama, Iowa) – 98^th – 36:09.9; Makalah Scheele (Beatrice) – 99^th – 36:55.7; and Annika McDonald (Tecumseh) – 100^th – 38:51.7.
 
Upcoming Meets 

The Bobcats will be off for several weeks before they compete in the Mid-States Classic hosted Southwestern College in Winfield, Kan. This meet will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 10 a.m.
