MADISON - A 26-year-old woman accused of shooting a man in the leg had a pretrial hearing at the Madison County Courthouse Monday morning.

Jamie Rodriguez has been charged with 2 felonies related to assault and a weapons charge. She is accused of shooting a man in the leg on February 3rd in south Norfolk.

The victim says Rodriguez was driving him around when they got into an argument, which escalated to the shooting.

Rodriguez has told officials that the man was assaulting her, and that is why she shot him. No criminal charges have been brought against the man. Officials say Rodriguez was intoxicated at the time of the incident.

An attorney for Rodriguez said at the hearing Monday that there have been some prenegotions with the prosecutors. A continuation was sustained by the judge, and another pretrial is set to take place on August 26th.

The judge also sustained a request for Rodriguez, who is out on bond, to change her residence to an undisclosed location where she feels safer.

A jury trial is scheduled for September 9th if the case makes it that far.
